About the district

Paisley & District Scouts is a Scout District of The Scout Association, covering Paisley, Barrhead and Neilston. Scouting has run here for over a century, and today the district is made up of eleven community groups supporting around 700 young people aged 4 to 25.

Each group runs its own sections — Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts — on different nights in halls across the three towns. Explorers and Network operate across the whole district. Every group is run by volunteers: parents, former members, and people from the local community who give anything from an hour a month to most of their week.

What the district does

The district exists to support the groups. It runs shared training for leaders, organises events and camps that bring young people together from across the area, holds the permits and equipment that individual groups can't, and provides a point of contact for safeguarding, safety and governance.

It's led by a District Lead Volunteer and a small team, and overseen by a Trustee Board that is responsible for the district as a charity (Scottish Charity No. SC003034).
