18 – 25 Year olds…

Scout Network is the sixth and final youth section of The Scout Association in the United Kingdom, catering to young adults aged 18 to 25. Established in 2001, Scout Network offers a platform for personal development, adventure, and community engagement, allowing members to continue their Scouting journey into early adulthood. ​

Programme and Activities

Scout Network members engage in a diverse range of activities tailored to their interests and aspirations:​

  • Adventure: Opportunities for expeditions, outdoor pursuits, and international travel foster a sense of adventure and global awareness. 
  • Community: Participation in local and national projects allows members to make a positive impact on society, addressing issues they are passionate about. ​
  • International: Engagement in global Scouting events and initiatives promotes cultural exchange and international understanding. ​

These activities are designed to be flexible, enabling members to tailor their Scouting experience to their individual goals and schedules.​

Awards and Recognition

Within Scout Network, members have the opportunity to pursue prestigious awards that recognize their commitment and achievements:​

  • King’s Scout Award: The highest youth award in Scouting, requiring dedication to personal development, leadership, and community service. ​
  • Explorer Belt: An international expedition award that challenges members to undertake a 10-day expedition in a foreign country, promoting cultural understanding and personal growth. ​
  • Scouts of the World Award: An award focusing on global citizenship and sustainable development, encouraging members to make a positive impact on the world. ​

Structure and Membership

Scout Network operates at multiple levels:​

  • Local Units: Members can join local Scout Network units, participating in activities and projects within their communities.​
  • UK Scout Network: A national platform that connects members across the UK, offering resources, events, and opportunities for collaboration. ​

Uniform and Identity

Scout Network members wear a distinctive uniform that fosters a sense of belonging and pride:​

  • Uniform: A beige shirt or blouse paired with a neckerchief (or ‘necker’) in their unit’s colors. ​
